I’m really pleased to welcome Kelly to the blog today. She’s one half of a blogging pair of twins!
Kelly is a former professional wrestler turned blogger and an avid reader. She writes book reviews, amongst other posts, along with her Twin sister Lucy, on their blog theblossomtwins.com. She loves coffee, food and all things Italian, thanks to her Italian grandparents. She’s currently living back home in Manchester, after spending 7 years in the States.
1. What’s the first book you remember reading?
I always remember our teacher in primary school reading to us at the end of the day and the one book that grabbed my attention and never left me was The Magic Faraway tree stories. I always looked forward to hearing about what moonface and the gang were getting up to and each of the worlds they found at the top of the tree mesmerized me. I actually ordered the collection off amazon a couple of years ago, so that one day I can read them to my kids. As far as me actually reading, I loved Enid Blyton’s books and still have some in my cupboards, which I’ve kept safe. I can’t quite remember which one was the first I read though.
2. What book will always stay with you and why?
Harry Potter has to be my first choice because as far as capturing my imagination, the books are going to be timeless and no doubt ones I will read to my kids and hope they will then read to theirs. As far as a book I’ve read as an adult, Me Before You will always stick with me as one of the books that got me back into reading. It reinforced just how much a good book can affect you deeply and make you feel so many different emotions. Since I read it, many years ago now, I’ve been reading nonstop.
3. One book you are looking forward to reading?
Ooh that’s a tricky one because I seem to have accumulated an enormous list of authors that I absolutely love, so anytime a new book of theirs come out, I am first in line to read it. I am looking forward to Freya North’s next one though, if I have to be specific. I read 12 of her books in one summer and then her last two each year they came out. She hasn’t announced one for a while, as I think she’s been working on other things, but I am very much looking forward to delving into her worlds again. She’s fantastic.
