As a writer, I know many other writers and we are always looking to improve our craft. We read multiple books on the subject and take courses that are available to us. We never feel we are doing our best work and think we always have more to give. We can do better, we can improve and give the reader a better experience. It’s in our nature.
One of the courses that I hear discussed a lot is the video course of Guardian Masterclass with Shonda Rhimes and Aaron Sorkin et al. This video course comes at a price and only allows you access for a year.
But, I have found on YouTube a full course run by the bestselling fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. He’s teaching a class of students how to write and someone has recorded and uploaded it. They’ve kindly split it into very small chunks so it’s easy to digest. I watched quite a few of them yesterday and really enjoyed them so thought I would share it with you.
You can find the whole course HERE.
And in the meantime, here is one of the videos from that course, on the three-act structure.
What’s your favourite book on the subject of writing? (I’m probably going to collate a blog post on the subject in the future.)

Thanks, Rebecca. It’s always good to know what’s out there in terms of help for writers.

It’s a great course, I’ve watched a lot of it myself now.

I am always searching the internet for helpful articles.
I have a couple of ebooks on my kindle, sometimes I think I look for answers to much instead of just doing.
And no book is going to give me the magic answer..

A lot of it is practice, you have to keep writing, but these videos are very good. I’ve watched a lot of them myself now.
