Do you love crime fiction? Do you write reviews for it, either on Goodreads, Amazon (or your reader of choice as it is going on all platforms) or a blog? If so, I’m creating a list of anyone who is interested in having an eReader proof copy of Shallow Waters.
For anyone unaware, the proof copy means there may be a few errors as we will still be proofreading it but you get it in advance of its release date. The purpose of this is to garner reviews before it’s released so potential buyers can get a feel for it and not just from the cover and blurb.
The cover will be revealed next week!
If you are a reviewer (and we haven’t already discussed this, because if we have, then consider it still OK) then I have half a dozen copies to give away. You do have to be prepared to review it in some form though. So if you do want a copy please let me know in the comments below.
I have extra copies to give away to those signed up to the newsletter. If you missed the post about the newsletter last week, you can find that Here. Also by signing up to the newsletter you get a sneak peek of the novel as an email comes out, following subscription, containing the first 5 chapters. So you may want to read those before deciding if you want a proof copy…
The link to subscribe is HERE.
This is the edited blurb to Shallow Waters:
When the naked, battered body of an unidentified teenager is found dumped in an alleyway, post-mortem finds evidence of a harrowing series of events.
Another teenage death with the same MO pushes DI Hannah Robbins and her team on the Nottingham City division Major Crimes Unit, to their limits, and across county borders. In a race against the clock they attempt to unpick a thick web of lies and deceit to uncover the truth behind the deaths.
But it doesn’t stop there. When catching a killer isn’t enough, just how far are the team willing to push themselves to save the next girl?
So, who’s interested?! And where can you review? Β Β Thank you x
Edited to say, this post is a part of Alex Cavanaugh’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group as it’s the first Wednesday of the month and when I was scheduling this post in my head, it was always going to be this post, after all, why would I not be nervous about this part of my independent publishing journey? But I was so full of nerves/beans when it came to writing the post, I completely forgot, so please, take it as read, that this post is powered by the ISWG!

I’d definitely love to review it Rebecca – I could post a review on my blog, plus one on Amazon and GoodReads, if that’d be a help? Loved the first five chapters btw.
Rebecca Bradley says
Thank you! Consider one yours π
Ian says
Hi I would be more than willing to review and add comments to Amazon and Goodreads.

Thanks Ian. Consider one yours! x
Margot Kinberg says
Rebecca – I’m so excited for your release!! Have I missed it or have you not mentioned yet when your release is scheduled? Looking forward to seeing that cover!!
Rebecca Bradley says
Thank you Margot! The release date is still a work in progress. The novel is currently with my editor waiting for her to give the OK (or not) on the edits, then it’s proofreading while the proofs go out to those who want them and I’ll also know a date, but I need to wait on my editor who is a very busy lady herself. The cover looks great though, so I’m excited about that! π
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Too cool! I’m in the middle of a book for a blurb right now with another waiting in the wings. Hope you get a lot of offers.
Rebecca Bradley says
Thanks Alex. Boy there is so much to do isn’t there? And so much to juggle at once!
Louise Wykes says
I would love to read and review for you. I can post to Amazon, Goodreads and Booklikes. I do guest reviews for book blogs so could get my review hosted on one of the blogs I review for too. Fingers crossed!
Rebecca Bradley says
Thanks Louise. Consider one yours! π

Would love to help out Rebecca, but probably best for me not to commit to anything just now with bean imminent. I will definitely be reading it when it comes out though and I’m looking forward to seeing that cover π
Rebecca Bradley says
Thank you. I know you have a lot on your plate. It’s exciting stuff for you right now! I’m looking forward to your news and just hope I don’t miss it!

I’m sorry to say I don’t do reviews and on this occasion I really, really am sorry. I hope you get rave after rave. π
Anna from Shout with Emaginette
Rebecca Bradley says
That’s fine Anna. I totally understand. Fingers crossed they’re raving π
FictionFan says
I won’t take you up on the offer of a proof, Rebecca – my personal rule is never to review a self-pub unless I buy it (there are complicated reasons behind that rule, which I won’t bore you with!). But I assure you I’ll be buying on release day, and can’t wait to read it! π
Rebecca Bradley says
Brilliant! Thank you π We all have rules and I wouldn’t ask anyone to go against any of theirs. x
Jacqui Murray says
This stuff happens. I couldn’t believe I’d completely missed one month. I didn’t even notice for two months afterwards!
Rebecca Bradley says
I’m awful for remembering the first Wednesday. It’s because the months just seem to fly by so quickly!
Linda King says
I am the worst reviewer in the world. I barely get beyond saying I liked something! But I am really looking forward to reading it eventually and may even be moved to get my arse in gear and give it a proper review…
Rebecca Bradley says
That would be great Linda. But I know some people don’t. They just read for leisure and at a leisurely pace as well and don’t consider reviews. If you do happen to read it and happen to enjoy it and happen to remember to review it, then that would be great, but if not, then it’s not the end of the world. Your encouragement along the way means a lot to me.
D.A. Cairns says
I would like to read Shallow Waters. I can post my review on Goodreads and on my blog.
Rebecca Bradley says
David, unfortunately you are a tad late for this one. I know you only see five on here, but one of the blog readers contacted me by email straight off. Are you signed up to the email? Because I know your time zone is different to ours so you may see the blog post later than everyone else, though you were a little later than the time zone indicates as well, but I also gave away copies to newsletter subscribers (which have all gone now) but at least you can open the email as soon as it comes near enough.
You can sign up here http://rebeccabradleycrime.us7.list-manage2.com/subscribe?u=c806448eb12fe9df1674fb048&id=2457b6ec2c
It’s unlikely to be the last giveaway that occurs. Newsletter subscribers will be privy to news and giveaways before blog readers or extra to blog readers, so it’s worth signing up to.
As a new indie author, I do have to be careful with how I approach all this. I’m sorry you missed it this time.
