Way back in the middle of December – which now feels like eons ago – the lovely Vikki at The View Outside, awarded me the Liebster Award for the blog. It has taken me this long to acknowledge it, so to Vikki, I apologise, and thank you!
This award has been around for a while, but as it does the rounds, it grows and now has many facets to it. One of them is to provide eleven random facts about yourself. Having previously done these, I’m not sure there is much of interest left to say about myself, so I will skip this bit.
Next Vikki has asked me eleven questions. These I will answer in the best way I can. You will probably learn more about me through these questions than if I attempted to come up with eleven random facts!
;
1. Are you a punctual person or are you usually late?
I hate to admit this, but timekeeping isn’t my strongest point.
2. How many hours a week do you spend watching TV? Now come on, be honest!
Ah ha! A question I’m not going to hang my head in shame at. Some days I don’t watch any television. I get in from work, the kids probably have control of the TV, by the time I’ve set that they have to give control up, I’m ready to go and read or do some writing. I have more chance at weekends, so with the odd hour through the week, I probably watch about 5-6 hours of TV a week.
3. What do you wear in bed?
Warm, snuggly pajama’s. It’s the middle of winter! I’m wearing more than my perfume in bed!
4. In a heated argument do you walk away or keep at it until youโve had the final word?
I can be quite passionate if I strongly believe in something, but I do choose to walk away. Sometimes this is harder than others.
5. How many times a day do you look in a mirror? Come on, you can tell us.
I hate mirrors. I hate photographs more. Therefore I look in a mirror for necessity only.
6. Whatโs the first thing you do when you wake up?
Make a cup of tea!
7. Do you consider yourself lucky?
At times I have yes. At others I believe in making my own luck. Other times, bad things just happen.
8. Do you fear death?
I fear not having enough time to do all the things I want to do.
9. What are your top 3 pet peeves?
Rudeness. Snobbery. Running out of teabags.
10. What character in The Wizard of Oz are you most like?
The Lion. I never thought I was brave enough. It’s taken getting older, to attempt to realise my dreams.
11. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I genuinely don’t know.
Thank you Vikki. That was interesting to do!
Vikki also awarded me blog of the year, so thank you also for that.
Over this Christmas period I have been doing some thinking and decision making about the coming year. More about that will be disclosed in the Insecure Writers Post next Wednesday, but for today, I’ll just say that, although I genuinely appreciate the thought that someone gives to awarding me these blog awards, I will no longer be doing them on the blog. I will be acknowledging any I receive though. It would be rude not to and as we know, that’s a pet peeve. I will still be engaging in blog hops such as the IWSG and April’s A to Z blogging challenge and any more I find, it’s just the awards I won’t be posting on. I’m finding I’m running out of interesting (was any of it interesting?!) things to say on them.
DJ Kirkby says
Very interesting! Think a word or two is missing from number 5 though. When you say you’re going to be doing the A to Z do you mean the reading challenge? I’m doing that this year and have set up a separate tab on my website for it (because I AM that anal).
Rebecca Bradley says
Thanks Denyse. I’ve updated number five and I’ve added a bit extra about the A to Z. It’s a blogging challenge where you post 26 posts in April, one for each letter of the alphabet. I saw your A to Z post and came away to think about recommendations. I’m still thinking! ๐
Margot Kinberg says
Rebecca – Congratulations on winning the Liebster award! Well-deserved! Really interesting questions too. And I completely agree with you about rudeness and snobbery. Both of them really bother me too. And I’m right there with you about TV. I don’t watch much either.
Rebecca Bradley says
Thanks Margot ๐ I used to watch a lot more TV but I’ve had to make decisions on what I’m doing with my time so I record only the programmes I’m really interested in and watch them when I can while fast forwarding the adverts to save more time!
Vikki (The View Outside) says
You are very welcome honey and I LOVED your answers ๐
I know exactly what you mean about blog awards, I’ve been considering backing out of them myself, but because I feel awkward passing them on lol
Xx
Rebecca Bradley says
Thanks Vikki. ๐
I think the awards are a great idea and do give fellow bloggers a chance to show they love others blogs, I just find it difficult to come up with new content for the responses now.
Alex J. Cavanaugh says
Running out of teabags – now that answer is unique! With you on the mirrors and photographs though.
Rebecca Bradley says
Hateful things aren’t they ๐
Annalisa Crawford says
I wish I could answer 5-6 hours a week for TV viewing, but I actually have it on while I write – and as some days I write for 5-6 hours, it adds up to a lot! I completely agree with the running out of teabags answer – luckily I live opposite a shop!
Rebecca Bradley says
That’s where we differ Annalisa, I couldn’t focus on writing and the TV at the same time! You’re writing cancels out your viewing time so I wouldn’t worry! ๐
As for teabags, gosh, it’s really not worth being near me if I run out!
