The #VirtualCrimeBookClub is an online book club I run approximately once a month where members meet in a Zoom room and discuss the month’s chosen book face-to-face. I created it several years ago before Zoom – we used Google Hangouts. But after about eighteen months we closed the doors.
When the Coronavirus hit and we were, around the world, locked down in our homes I thought it would be a good idea to start it again – prompted by a couple of old members! We could still meet up face-to-face but do it safely. It was needed at such a difficult time. Books were a space we could turn to for escapism and people were needed in our closed down lives.
And that is how the Virtual Crime Book Club was born.
Each month we vote on a selection of books, on this blog and then have three or four weeks to read the book. (It’s been three weeks during lockdown.) Then we have the meeting on a Monday at 8pm BST (UK timezone so convert that to your own timezone if you need to.)
We have members from all over the world and it would be great to have you join us. If you would like to join please sign up HERE. This is an email list necessary for me to send out details of the book we are reading and also send the Zoom room link the day before the meeting. You can’t get in without it.
Please check the blog at this link HERE to see where about in the process this month we might be – what book we’re reading and when the next meeting is slated for.
I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
