Last night the crime book club met and discussed The Retribution by Val McDermid. The overall feeling was that the group enjoyed the book. You can watch the video of the meeting below, but be aware, spoilers are discussed, including the ending.
There is no vote for the next book.
July saw the loss of a wonderful crime writer, Susie Steiner. Susie died after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
To honour Susie the virtual crime book club is reading the first of her detective Manon Bradshaw books, Missing, Presumed.
The next meeting is Monday 15th August 2022 at 8 pm BST (UK timezone).
You can sign up to the book club HERE.
Missing, Presumed by Susie Steiner
Mid-December, and Cambridgeshire is blanketed with snow. Detective Sergeant Manon Bradshaw tries to sleep after yet another soul-destroying Internet date – the low murmuring of her police radio her only solace.
Over the airwaves come reports of a missing woman – door ajar, keys and phone left behind, a spatter of blood on the kitchen floor. Manon knows the first 72 hours are critical: you find her, or you look for a body. And as soon as she sees a picture of Edith Hind, a Cambridge post-graduate from a well-connected family, she knows this case will be big.
Is Edith alive or dead? Was her ‘complex love life’ at the heart of her disappearance, as a senior officer tells the increasingly hungry press? And when a body is found, is it the end or only the beginning?
Thank you for allowing me to join. I have ordered this months book and am looking forward to going you on the 15th I guess you send out the joining details?
Many thanks again
