1 What’s the first book you remember reading?
Nancy Drew mystery series were the favourite choices for me, and my sister in our younger years. We kept the collection of books and she still has a few of them on her bookshelf. Since we read these stories over fifty years ago these books would now be considered classics AND antiques. But no matter how many years ago these books were written, children today would still enjoy the fun and adventurous tales of Nancy Drew.
2. What book will always stay with you and why?
Probably Ann Voskamp’s New York Times Bestseller, “One Thousand Gifts.” I have read the book several times and still come away touched by her inspirational writing and the challenge to find small things in life in which to be thankful. I honestly believe that you can’t walk away from reading this without it affecting your outlook on life.
3. One book you are looking forward to reading?
Alan Bradley’s next book in his Flavia de Luce series. I actually started to read this series after I found one of the books on sale at our local library. Now I can’t get enough of them. His story of a young girl living in an old mansion in England and the trouble she finds herself in is very charming. Add the mysteries that ensues during each story and they are the perfect read for those who enjoy well written cozy mystery.

Loving a Selfie
Shelley Auburn is the proverbial A-type personality. As the executive for Universal Station, a competitive website designed to take over every major worldwide web, her ambition and drive propels every decision. However, Shelley is interested in more than just being an executive for the company. She will stop at nothing to become the primary shareholder, and the best course of action is marrying the heir apparent, Patrick Malloy.
An unexpected trip to the company’s London office with John Cox, Universal Station’s spiritual advisor, turns out to be a major test of her will and heart. On Shelley’s return to America, an automobile accident and doctor’s diagnosis put a halt to her ambitions. But are they enough to sway her life goals and dreams? Will Shelley marry Patrick for his wealth and finally have all she has strived for, or will the sudden changes in life’s circumstances open her eyes to a world of unimaginable love that plunge her headlong into its embrace?
This continues to be such an interesting feature, so thanks, both. I grew up reading the Nancy Drew books, too…
