Follow You Home by Mark Edwards
Genre; Crime
It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime, a final adventure before settling down.
After a perfect start, Daniel and Laura’s travels end abruptly when they are thrown off a night train in the middle of nowhere. To find their way back to civilisation, they must hike along the tracks through a forest…a haunting journey that ends in unimaginable terror.
Back in London, Daniel and Laura vow never to talk about what they saw that night. But as they try to fit back into their old lives, it becomes clear that their nightmare is just beginning…
My thoughts:
I have heard so many great things about Mark Edwards’ books that I thought it was about time that I read one myself and I’m so glad that I did.
I now see why he gets the praise he does. Boy, does he know how to hook a reader! This book takes you into the woods then dangles you over a cliff and leaves you wondering if you were dropped or not, and then how far the fall was. And even when you think you have everything figured out in your head the very last sentence just pulls your feet from under you. (So do not go to the last page and read it first!)
Edwards knows just how to hold your hand and guide you right along the path he wants you to follow (pun intended) and then lets go, to leave you wandering around in the dark wanting to know what is happening, keeping you turning the pages.
This book is a class on hooking a reader and keeping them dangling.
A great read from a great storyteller.
Great book, I really enjoyed it.
He keeps you turning the pages!
Very glad you enjoyed this, Rebecca. Edward’s certainly been getting a lot of notice, and I keep hearing so many good things about this book. I admit I haven’t (yet) read it, but it has a really intriguing premise.
He knows how to keep the tension taut Margot.
I loved this book too!
It just keeps you turning the pages doesn’t it?!
It certainly does!
I think I own this book – need to look. I have not read any of Mark Edwards’ books yet, but goodness, your description makes me want to run and start reading right now! And – note to self – do not read the last page! I have been known to do that on occasion – which my husband finds shocking and terrible. LOL
I know, how can you do that?! But, definitely don’t do it with this book! I hope you enjoy the read 🙂
Another great-sounding book to add to my list. You keep finding those for me, Rebecca. My TBR pile is getting ridiculous!
I know what you mean Jacqui. Reading blogs is a nightmare. You have to tread carefully:)
Not read it yet, but it certainly sounds exciting.
It really was. It had me gripped.
