Today we have the bite-sized interviews back and I’m really excited to be able to share this one. It was great to speak with Dan as it was fascinating to see the other side of novel writing, the side that many novelists maybe looks towards with a glint in their eye. Their book on the huge screen.
Dan was asked to write Big Game for middle-grade children (just below YA) from the film (starring Samuel L Jackson) and not the other way around, so it’s from a unique angle. It’s an interesting one. I’m sure you’ll agree.
You can find Dan on his website, Twitter and Facebook.
Do you watch films after you have read the book? Or do you read books after you have watched the film? Or, do you leave the two entirely separate?
Really interesting!! Thanks, both. The screen and the page really are different media, so it takes a lot of skill to go from one to the other. Thanks for the peek behind the scenes…
I’m glad you enjoyed it Margot. Seeing how these stories cross the divide of page and screen was interesting wasn’t it? And as Dan said, many authors do like to imagine that one day they’ll see their work in that position one day.
Thanks so much for inviting me to chat!
Thanks for being brave enough to come on the blog and chat via video Dan! It was really interesting.
Do you know any connections between the book and him?
