This is a regular book related Tuesday Meme hosted at The Broke and the Bookish which I am going to do here every week. There is a different Top Ten every Week. You love books, why not give it a go?
Well, I am going away this summer, so I will have a beach bag and it will be chock full of books to read and this is where the kindle comes in incredibly handy because I can take as many as I want to and they won’t weigh me down. I also manage to get through quite a few books while I’m away as I love to relax by the pool and read. It’s going to be my particular thing this year as I’m not up to doing much else with my health as it is, so reading in the sun is what I’m in for and these are just a few of the books I’ve haven’t got around to reading yet and intend to make sure are loaded onto my kindle and ready to go!
What books would you put in your bag this summer?
I’m afraid I was badly disappointed by Rivers of London – but I know others who weren’t. Ice Twins, Station Eleven, and The Hummingbird are all on my (never ending) wishlist but I’m going to spend my summer doing a #TBR20 with the books I’ve already got.
I love crime, so I like the idea of something a bit quirky with it and thought I’d give it a try. All of these I already have, but they’re books I haven’t yet managed to get around to reading so sitting by a pool seems the perfect opportunity.
All look like perfect poolside reads (especially the ones set in colder climes). I too will be sticking to my #TBR20, have even set them aside on the floor of my study (no more room on the shelves).
What is TBR20? I do love novels set in cold climates. I don’t know why, I just do. As for all these books, I do already own them but haven’t got around to reading them yet so laying around by the pool seems the perfect opportunity to catch up with them.
TBR20 is all about reading 20 books from my TBR pile (shelves and electronic format), before buying any new ones. Urgent reviews are the exception, but on the whole I’ll stick to a plan that looks roughly like this:
https://findingtimetowrite.wordpress.com/2015/05/15/new-tbr-reading-challenge-and-rereading/
I have read 3 of the first 5 ….and none of the last:) I have plenty in my TBR pile to keep me going – Currently reading The Bones of You, just finished Night Owls and After The Crash…I must try and catch up with my reads….Enjoy your summer holiday- it is feeling a bit like winter here today.
Yes, I imagine my regular readers here will identify more with the first boxes than the second. All of them though, I do own, so they are real TBR’s that I haven’t yet got around to reading and laying by the pool seems the perfect opportunity to catch up with them.
We’re not having much in the way of a summer here yet either.
I don’t even want to list my TBR books – I would then be very afraid! The list just keeps growing – too much social media and not enough time for reading 🙂 Reading by the pool -sounds perfect to me.
Rivers of London! I really enjoyed that book. And Fangirl is on my list as well.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I like the sound of it being quite quirky. I’m looking forward to reading it. It’s been one of those books that I just haven’t got around to.
Lots of great reads there, Rebecca! I like the variety among them. Hope you’ll have a fabulous trip!
Thanks Margot. I’m looking forward to relaxing and also to catching up with the reads I haven’t yeat read but have been wanting to for a while 🙂
Since I write speculative fiction, mine would be full of science fiction and fantasy.
Yes, I imagine our boxes would look quite different, though I would be interested in seeing your list and would probably take a couple of books off it to read myself as I like to widen my reading experience.
I’ve only read The Girl On The Train up to this point, but I have The Ice Twins, I Let You Go and Inferno already on my Kindle. Others looks good too. Our vacation is not until August, but we’re heading to the mountains, so I have a mountain scenery bag. August in Central Texas is usually 90’s to over 100 in temperatures. Hence, running away to the cooler areas. Enjoy your trip and hope you get to sample all of these!
I’m really looking forward to reading them all, I hope to get through quite a few of them in a two week period. It’s not as though I’ll be running about on trips! 🙂
A holiday in the mountains sounds wonderful. Have a great time!
I love the idea of TBR20! So glad I heard about it! I read Fangirl and really enjoyed it, but it seems a little different than your usual read! 🙂 And while Inferno is entertaining, I enjoyed Dan Brown’s earlier Angels and Demons much more! Here’s my list if you’re interested http://hollykerr.ca/top-ten-tuesday-whats-on-my-reading-list-for-this-summer/
I do like the TBR20 idea. I need to stop buying because I have lots of great books already to read and as for Fangirl. I absolutely adore YA and I read Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell on my holiday last year and loved it. Though yes, I do tend to read a lot more crime. As for Dan Brown, I LOVE his stuff and can’t believe I haven’t read Inferno yet!
Station Eleven is like the top book I need to read rn, but I can’t find it anywhere where I live!!
The Girl on the Train was an amazing read! Fangirl, I wasn’t a huge fan of (the only one on the planet) hahaha
Great list, Happy reading!♥

Station Eleven is the #1 book I’m looking forward to read this summer.
It’s had great reviews hasn’t it?!
Yeaaaaaah.
I’m looking for ideas on what to read. Thanks for the post!
I hope you found something to interest you 🙂
I’ve read The Girl on the Train and Fangirl – Great list!
Check out my TTT.
Thanks, I’m looking forward to reading them 🙂
Right now, I’m reading the entire Gabriel DuPre series of Montana Mysteries. But, I checked them out of the library so I couldn’t take them in my beach bag.
Let me see…
That’s a problem, especially if the pages are going to fall out in the sun… Another reason a kindle is great on holiday 🙂
