Dying For Christmas by Tammy Cohen
Genre: Crime
I am missing. Held captive by a blue-eyed stranger. To mark the twelve days of Christmas, he gives me a gift every day, each more horrible than the last. The twelfth day is getting closer. After that, there’ll be no more Christmas cheer for me. No mince pies, no carols. No way out .
But I have a secret. No-one has guessed it. Will you?
My Thoughts:
Firstly: Tammy Cohen has a dark, dark mind!
Secondly: Which is perfect for crime fans over the festive period!
Don’t take anything for granted, that’s what they were always being told. People are rarely who they seem.
A sentence as the family do the televised appeal for the safe return of Jessica Gold. A sentence that sums up the entire novel so well as Cohen weaves her magical fingers through the lives of those contained within the pages.
On Christmas Eve, Jessica Gold meets a stranger in a department store cafe, goes back to his place with him and for the following 12 days of Christmas she is wrapped up in his warped games. And for 12 days the police speak with her family and her partner, and do their utmost to find her. Then the 12 days are over.
Are you sure you’re ready to find out what happens after that 12 days? The psychological and bizarre are so cleverly packaged for us, you can even imagine Cohen has twisted a neat bow on top. It’s dark, it’s twisted and it’s a great thrilling ride. Well worth the read.
