I’m really thrilled about this. An online crime book club we started just a few months ago is gradually building. We have members who pop in from all over the world. You can see this on some of the video’s of the meetings which are all saved on the book club playlist on my YouTube channel Here.
It’s simple to join in, we hold the meeting on Google+ Hangouts on the third Wednesday of the month, so this month it will be Wednesday 15th January 8:00 p.m. GMT. The details for this are on the blog Here. Just make sure you find me, Rebecca Bradley on Google + and let me know you want adding to the crime book club circle so that the invite goes out to you at the time.
Because Christmas and New Year is so hectic, I’m doing a reminder post (which I don’t usually). The book we’re reading is this month is;
The Necessary Death of Lewis Winter by Malcolm MacKay
A twenty-nine-year-old man lives alone in his Glasgow flat. The telephone rings; a casual conversation, but behind this a job offer. The clues are there if you know to look for them. He is an expert. A loner. Freelance. Another job is another job, but what if this organisation wants more? A meeting at a club. An offer. A brief. A target: Lewis Winter. It’s hard to kill a man well. People who do it well know this. People who do it badly find out the hard way. The hard way has consequences. An arresting, gripping novel of dark relationships and even darker moralities, The Necessary Death of Lewis Winter introduces a remarkable new voice in crime fiction. The second book in the Glasgow Trilogy How A Gunman Says Goodbye will follow soon .
There’s still plenty of time to read it and join in at the meeting. Please join in if you haven’t yet, we’d be pleased to have you. If you love crime fiction, and you can’t make real life book clubs, this is perfect for you.
I look forward to discussing crime fiction with you soon.
What’s stopping you? It’s a new year, if you’ve been considering, pick up this book, read it, then come along and let us know what you thought. Genuinely, we’d love your opinion!
Future thoughts on the book club;
I have been thinking about the book club and how we can progress it, and with how easy it is to connect readers together, no matter their geographical boundaries, I may attempt to get the odd author to maybe sign in and speak to us for the last fifteen minutes of book club for some books if I can – if they’re up for it. It’s just a thought at this point, but it’s something that I see as completely feasible. I think 2014 will be a great year for the crime book club. I think I may even take it on the road if it falls when I’m in Harrogate at the crime writing festival…. who knows. Lets see how the first half of the year pans out first!
If you want to keep up to date with the book club and make sure you don’t miss anything, sign up to the newsletter Here.
Looking forward to it, Rebecca. 🙂 You are doing a fantastic job leading this club!
Thank you so much Margot. I couldn’t do it without the support of all members like yourself 🙂
